It seems every aspiring super-hero comic artist has done at least one, or a hundred, drawings of Batman.
To make this interesting, dig out some of the early versions of the character you did when you were younger (From Kindergarten on). Scan those and post it with your new image. A side by side comparison.
Have FUN with this!

I will kick this off! Starting with a pic from 1983, before some of you were born. A watercolour study-raw umber. All for fun, didn't even get the symbol on there. The next one was done in transit. I get an hour to draw on the train and bus, getting to work. The unstable working condition makes it a bit of a challenge, esp. for fine detail. If you can't dig up any old images for comparison, don't sweat it. Just post an image? Thanks. G.

The problem is, is that I barely ever drew Batman ... I maybe drew 3 pictures of him, none finished and usually just rough sketching. but here's the only thing I could find that I did 10 years ago. I've been wanting to do an actual drawing some time soon, but putting this comic together is taking a lot of time, I don't even get a chance to draw.

... having ... flashbacks ... must ... remember ... being able ... to ... draw Gerald sparked my memory with the Joker and such in that drawing I just went through my regressed memory banks and remembered I had drawn this giant picture ... for no apparent reason that I can think of. It's too big for me to even scan ... or sit and scan forever and piece together ... it's about the size of 2 11x17s ... here ya go. this was done in about 96/97 ... I can't recall anything more definite than that ... since I didn't even sign it .. duh ... anyhow, I drew twoface's body way to big for his head, but oh well. I had to take the pictures with my handicam ... el crappo qualityo

Nice work so far, gentlemen. I can't say I'm completely satisfied with my Batpic, but it is done, and seeing as how I missed out on the star wars jam last month, I felt compelled to post. So, voila! And here's hoping the movie kicks some serious ass!

Lately I've noticed people are drawing b-man with the sorta toon style in mind.
Nice work, both yours and Geralds has a nice feel to it.

Not my best kinda did all the colouring in a sleep deprived state. I noticed I don't actually have any batman drawings from my youth so I guess here's my first Batman thingy. May do another one.

A few months ago, I got curious and wondered what Two-Face would look like if I drew him. I sketched this with a 2H pencil, and so I had to scan it extra dark to see it on my computer screen. Then I 'painted' the scan white with 'paint bucket'. Sadly, I lost a lot of the shading in the process, but oh well.

And this one is kind of a wish of mine. I'd love to have The Brave & the Bold come back. You can find a large version of this in the Pin-Ups section of my website.

Very unique stuff, Ledsoul. That Harley almost looks alien. Your ladies have very nice feet.
Oh, and Connor, your 2 Face kicks some serious bootay, and I'm sure I've said that before already. It's always great to see refreshing takes on classic characters.
Good job, guys.

Nice work everybody.
Chris- I like the look of the loose watercolour over your tight linework; they complement each other well.

Thanks Fiona,
since I don't have any formal arts training, I really have no idea what I'm doing. I wish I did, I wish I had more of a plan, but that painting just evolved and still wasn't how it was in my head, but turned out different but I thought it seemed neat.
Your Scarecrow looks nice, maybe I'd understand it more if I saw the movie ... where I'm guessing this is referencing ? Overall, since I don't know, it's a really really nice portrait of a guy ;D

Haha, yeah, I guess without the crazy Scarecrow mask he could be any old joe. But hopefully that looks like Dr. Crane from the movie. :)

Gerald, you've got a really nice batman pic there. I couldn't hope to draw that steady on transit. Chris, you're old pics are pretty cool. I must say, you drew better than I did at that age. That new watercolor you did is really cool. He looks like a very determined Adam West under there. Nick, kicking batman as always. I have a little problem with the inside of the cape coming out the bottom there, but the cool rope takes my eye away from that. Pond, cool pic. The rain really adds to the mood of isolation and mystique. Cognoman, your style is so versatile! Very nice take on two-face, almost Mr. Hydish. Dutton, some cool retro goodness from you. It's been a while since I saw a batman in that shade of green. Ledsoul, some great pencil renderings there. I like catwoman the best. Fiona, great lines as always. I could tell it was Cillian Murphy when I saw the pouty lips and sweater vest. Here's a batman I did up tonight. He's had a rough night at the office.

Thanks Dutton, but you're not getting a full body on that one. I drew a full body one earlier in the week and it didn't turn out at all. I just focused on his face for the new one.

It has a good mix of the animated version and quazi-frank miller. I like the b&w / red mix ..

It has a good mix of the animated version and quazi-frank miller. That was exactly what I was going for. You hit that right on the head. I thank you sir! and yeah, black, white, and red seem to be my color scheme of choice. Oh, and big ups to Johnny! You're support is always appreciated.

I actually found some Batman art I did before. Not long before. actuall only a tear ago and it's pretty much a copy of the Jim Lee art from a Superman comic (you know the one where Supes is under Poison Ivy's control and fights Batman?). I actually used it for a poster I did at work to encourage people to properly use a spatula to scrape out their sauce containers when refilling. Instead of the usual bat ears he had spatulas on his head and was called SPATMAN. These were the two respectable drawings I did (with Mr. Lee's help of course)

This was just supposed to be a little drawing of Mr. Freeze, but I got carried away. I came up with a bunch of designs for Mr. Freeze, and didn't know which one to use, so I figured I'd just have them all battle it out in the "Mr. Freeze Clone Wars". Maybe I'll draw up some of the other designs, but probably not (I'm a procrastinator). Hopefully the "Clone Wars" reference can count as my entry for the May 'Star Wars' challenge, heh heh. This Batman thread is probably my favourite thread on the whole of Maple Ink (so far!). Every drawing that was posted was cool. And I know this is kind of a strange entry for a 'Batman Fan Art' thread, but I couldn't think of where else to put it. Later!
