Questions: 1. Completed or number of pages done? 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? 3.How would you improve this event? 4.Would you take part in this again? 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? ( can be included later) 6. Before and after photo or other photos? Additional Comments: Answers: 1. I got 21 out of 24 pages( lettered& inked) done. 2. I'm very happy with the pages I have. I should have had the disipline to let a page go...not over work some things. Maybe I tried to do too much, but I didn't want to take short cuts- even repeat panels worked out as time intensive.I would like to be just a participant, not an organiser...that took time away from me. A second brush pen would have helped, reloading with ink takes too much time.Only refilled once...got 17 pages done on one cartridge-and I use alot of black. 3. Improvements. An early start would help, secure sponsors and media contacts. Get the word out more effectively. Volunteers/gophers for CK staff & participants.Last do we need to set up a policy for "hangers on" non-participating guests?( some people signed on but didn't draw?) 4. I would absolutely do this again...I learned I can get a standard comic done in such a short time ( I worked nearly full page, didn't skimp on the background & environments. I keep a personal standard. Or Im just a glutton for punishment?) 5. Favourite page/panel-completed after 4 hours of sleep-post 24HC deadline. Finished the last three pages in 3 hours. My comic still goes down as a "Noble Failure" Following Eastman's example. 6. -to come. Additional Comments: We were number three for most participants in 71 locations. One place had 50 another 80? 10000 estimated pages, completed for the 24HC Event. (figure reported by Nat Gertler) Thank you. GarSeeYa!

1. Completed or number of pages done? 24 pencilled, 10 inked.
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? I quit at around 7:00 am. I felt a mental and physical exhaustion like never before. I looked at my pages again after some sleep and I did like a few things here and there, but overall I did try to overwork and overshoot alot of things. Next time, I would try something easier and have more fun. However, I was surprised to see what and how much I could do under the gun.
3. How would you improve this event?I would recommend getting better chairs, those mall ones are a chiropractor's dream, and although I'm sure I'll hear alot of jive from the people who finished, I'd prefer a 12 page comic in 12 hours event. But that's just me.
4. Would you take part in this again? Well despite the fact that I copped-out, even with Cognoman's best efforts to keep me going, I'm willing to give it another shot. I think the turn-out was really good and there was alot of good local talent to meet and talk with.
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? Ha! I'm not going to punish you guys with my art.
6. Before and after photo or other photos? Nicks got a before pic, but I wasn't in the mood for photography at the end.
Big thanks to Gerald and all the other people and sponsors who made this event possible.

1. Completed or number of pages done? 24 YES YES YES
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? It's no masterpiece, but it's finished, and I think it's pretty much the best I could do given the constraints. Next time I'll try to make a comprehendable story.
3.How would you improve this event? I agree that better chairs would be great, but probably impossible... I think organizers did a great job.
4.Would you take part in this again? Definitely!
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? will scan later
Thanks Gerald for all the work you put in organizing this thing!

Gerald, Fiona, Vince: I was really impressed with the art that I saw from you. Good job, and I hate you all for outdoing me so badly, heh heh. -----------------------------------
1. Completed or number of pages done? Hmm… Do 24 pages of zero quality still count as 24 pages?
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? I've got mixed feelings about the book. I'm really happy that I finished, but I'm quite not-happy with the artwork. A lot of people go in to this event and put a lot of effort in to their art and end up struggling to finish - I think I went way overboard the other way.
What I learned from 24HC: - Most cartoonists are very normal and cool people, despite the fact that they're completely insane (e.g., Mr. Nick) - Mall music is not very helpful when you're trying to stay awake all night and draw comics - Splash pages are your friend - I'm a lot slower at drawing than I realized. I thought I could still do decent pictures if I drew as fast as I could, but I was horrifyingly wrong - Character design should probably be worked out before you start drawing the comic, especially if you're going straight to inking - Splash pages are your friend - Splash pages are your friend…and, sometimes, your secret lover
What I would do differently: - I regret not meeting and talking with more of the other participants. That's where most of the fun is (in distracting them all so they can't do their work, heh heh) - Spend more time on the penciling. It doesn't take very long to turn loose layout pencils in to tighter, cleaner images and it's definitely worth the effort
3.How would you improve this event? By adding on an extra day or two, so that I wouldn't have to rush as much, heh heh.
4.Would you take part in this again? Definitely. I had buckets of fun and I'd say something like this is probably a good way to measure my improvement over time.
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? Whichever one took the least time to draw.
6. Before and after photo or other photos? See Mr. Nick for those, although why anyone would want to see pictures of sleep-deprived cartoonists baffles my mind.
In closing, thank you very much everybody: - to Gerald and Comic-Kazi, for their huge amounts of effort in setting this thing up - to Mr. Nick, for keeping me awake the entire time with his ever-flowing stream of bad jokes (I'm kidding! They were good jokes!) - to all the other participants, for drawing better comics than me. You're only making next year all the sweeter for me…when I'll crushingly defeat you all with my "New-and-Improved Mind-Blowingly Amazing 24-hour Comic #2"! BWAHAHAHAHA!
(Edit (4/25/05): I just realized that this is my 24th post! Nifty!)

COmpleted Pages: 24, but I didn't ink them. I drew heavy and now it is a chore to scratch and type. Ouch.
Happy with book? Very, I didn't think I would be able to go the distance with it, but I did, even though I took some shortcuts. Next time I will likely set my standards a bit higher, just for some extra personal challenge.
Improve Event: I don't think different chairs would be possible, but renting some of those massage chairs just to have on site would make like good. Overall it was a great event and I had loads of fun. Way to go Comickazi! The best part was all of the talent! Such energy (especially Nick at 5:00am)!
Take Part again? Of course! Next years we will know what to expect...maybe.
Favorite Panel: Half naked elderly man falling down bottomless pit. Loads of fun to draw!

<1. Completed or number of pages done?> 24. I lived The Dream. <2. Are you happy with your book?> I'm happy it's done. I'm way too close to its creation right now to be able to assess how successful it is as either a story or a work of art, though I have hopes it's successful as the former and suspect it's mediocre as the latter. <3.How would you improve this event?> I'd bring more Diet Vanilla Coke, and I'd start applying ice to my hand and back earlier than I did this time. <4.Would you take part in this again?> I honestly don't know. I didn't think I'd ever really do it again after the last failed attempt, so my inclination to say "never again" right this second doesn't really count for much. <5. Your favourite Panel in your comic?> The last one, because it was the last one, and because it ties the story together more nicely than I could ever have expected to be the case. <6. Before and after photo or other photos?> Before, or during the early hours, photo can be found here: www.happyharborcomics.com/events/page_event_24hrcomic05.htmlDon't have an after photo that I know of, yet. <Additional Comments:> My LiveJournal entry on the Edmonton event is too long to post here. 24 pages ... done. I like how my comic turned out but I wish i did more drawing and collage rather than sometimes being so conceptual. I ran into the creative wall a lot through the night and compromising seemed so much easier. I came up with the initial idea after working on the first page. I wrote what i could and did a few thumbnails. So I ended up finishing the beginning and the end and then developed the middle as the night wore on. Not working in chronological order helped a lot. I thought it was a fun and interesting event. Thanks to Comic Kazi and volunteers for hosting a great event and thanks to all people sponsoring the event.. Thanks to the artists involved too. A part of me feels that once was good enough but I'll probably feel different after a few days or months and do it again. I'm so glad I took part. It helped show me what I was capable of. The event is a great motivator. I feel like making more work but not at this moment. It was also great to see how other people worked. At this moment these are my favorite. they make more sense in the overall format.

Gerald, your event totally kicked ass!! Everyone was great, from participants, to organizers, and even the casual onlookers. I've been doing conventions for almost twenty years and can't remember a more relaxed and enjoyable time. Will definitely be there next year. 1. Completed or number of pages done? Only 11 pages completed. I am too lazy. 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? Next time I will think about my story more before I come in. Wasted a lot of time figuring out what to do next. 3.How would you improve this event? Next time have a woman in diapers instead of a man. Otherwise keep everything the same. I'll bring my own little folding chair, though. 4.Would you take part in this again? Yes. 5. Your favourite panel in your comic? The robo-lobster attacks! The rest of the pages are on my site: www.attoboy.com/ophiuchi/dv_24hourcomic/6. Before and after photo or other photos?Damian Willcox - Hero of the Beach! Saturday, 10:15am 7. Additional commentsToward the end I became more interested in seeing what everyone else was doing than working on my own stuff. Gotta stay more focused next time. Was very impressed with the level of skill. Some creators were apologizing for their work, but it looked pretty good to me. Saw a lot of different working methods that I will try on my own stuff this year, so hopefully will be able to finish next year. One of the best things about this year's event was the table set-up. The big ring was great in too many ways to get into here. For sure set it up that way next year. Did you see how those poor folk at Happy Harbour had to work? Thanks again to Gerald and all the sponsors for putting on a great show! Cheers! -Derek

First things first, I'd like to apologize to the legions of people I undoubtedly annoyed in the wee hours of the morn. I'm not on drugs, I swear. I was just INSANELY excited about the event and couldn't keep my butt glued to the chair.
1. Pages Done: 24 Pages done well: 3.274 2.Happy with my book? I'm happy that I finished it. I was pretty freaked for the last few hours, dead certain I wouldn't make it. Low and behold, with some rah rah rah from my VA homeboys, Cog "the man" Noman and the talented Ms. Fiona, I came out on top.
Differently? Hmmm...let me see... DRAW BETTER! Aside from the obvious, I should have spent more time drawing and less time visiting. Though, I couldn't resist checking out the other projects and chatting it up with all those fun and cool people. In fact, I'll probably do the same thing next year! HAH! Take that , Father Time!
3. Improve it? Can't. Unless you want to hold it once a month instead. Let the good times roll.
4. Again? Try and stop me.
5. Fave panel? The one where the "Khan" screaming,William Shatneresque helicopter pilot gets shot in the head.
6. I didn't take after photos for me or Connor cuz we pretty much looked the same. And Mr. Johnny and Mr. Vince weren't feeling up to a photo shoot. But I will post some wicked cool pics very soon.
HUUUUUUUUUGE thanks to Gerald and Wes and ... Mary Ann, i hope that was her name. I was so tired. Um. You guys did a great job organizing and promoting the event and I had a BLAST!
Special Note: Do NOT believe Mr. Vince, CogNoman or Fiona if they say their art was anything less than awesome. They put me to horrible shame. Thanks to Diaperman for the energy infused Baby Bottle Pop and Damian for putting me in his comic and doing bad G. W. Bush impressions to make my blood boil, thusly giving me an eigth wind. Oh, and Greg for coming down from Grand Prairie and having cool facial hair.
I hope most of this bunch will come down for the May 28 Comic Con cuz I'd be really sad if you didn't. And if there's one thing everyone hates, it's a SAD Mr. Nick.
This is the longest post I've ever written in my life. Thx for reading this far. Your reward is the ancient secret that I will divulge to you now . . . Connor was right. The jokes are bad!
POOF!

Sorry, dude.

1. Completed or number of pages done?
All 24. Last time I attempted this challenge I only managed to complete 12 before I gave up 8 hours in.
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently?
I WAS happy with my book, til I started to walk around and look at everyone elses. I am horribly self concious. As I looked at people's stuff I realised my art SUCKS and the more talent I saw, the more I hated my own work. I forced myself to finish because I wasn't going to quit again, but it was a challenge.
I don't know if I would do anything differently. My style is pretty concrete and I know how to get work done FAST... perhaps just not well. I would have liked to have lugged my light table along to do some repeat panels more accurately, but it's a freaking fixture at home, not really moveable.
3.How would you improve this event?
A better sleeping area would be nice... I brought a sleeping bag (should have brought a ground sheet though, d'oh!) and earplugs, and I could STILL hear the mall music and the lights were on in the room so it was hard to sleep. Then the guy cleaing the floor walked by the room like six times. I was ready to trottle him! Now my neck is sore and my hips hurt. I had full intentions of getting 8 hours of sleep on top of finishing my book... I got 5 restless hours of sleeping and waking.
4.Would you take part in this again?
No... I've done it twice now, and I've finally succeeded in my goal. I can't keep abusing myself like this. I love art and I love comics and it was an experience. I had a lot of fun and everyone was entusiastic and happy to be there... but I've done it.
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic?
I will include it once I get it back so I can scan it in. My favorite panel was however when my character goes to sleep and the butterfly lands on her nose, and she opens her eyes and smiles.
6. Before and after photo or other photos?
Sorry, no. I didn't bring a camera. Richard got a picture of me at about 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
Additional Comments:
I wish I hadn't quit drinking caffiene. I could have really used a coke or something for a boost... or a downer (as Caffiene tends to make me sleepy). But if I had had a coke my hands would start shaking and I would be able to draw. Bloody hell ¬_¬ And boy, eating carbs and meat and candy all day and night to keep up the energy really had me desperately craving some vegatables when I got home.
But yeah... it was fun. And it was nice to put faces to names from all the people on the board.

1. Completed or number of pages done? twenty FORE!! (insert people ducking and looking around here) 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? Yes, I feel like I have achieved a pinnacle of comic perfection previously unbeknownst to man with my 24 hour social commentary on the plight of man and his inability to grasp the magnitude of his inner struggle with himself while externally battling the social mores of a society gone horribly wrong...oh, wait a second, that's not my comic...here it is! ...yikes, what a piece of crap.... here it is in its crappy entirety.... (warning 2.4MB) www.dorkboycomics.com/pdfcomics/24hrComic-2005.pdfdifferently? less diaperman, more pinatas and shopping cart races. oh, and I wouldn't include people who didn't deserve to be in my comic such as Nick who obviously doesn't know awesome, AWESOME George W. Bush impressions (awesome), and Devon, who threatened to kill me AGAIN!! yet, I should give her credit for being too sleepy to kill me...that was a nice turn of events....I would also complain less about ipod headphones to Derek, and learn a little bit more about integrity. 3.How would you improve this event? recliners, and personal slaves to make my comic for me, thus allowing me more time to annoy others with my AWESOME (that's right, Nick...awesome!!!) George W. Bush impression at 4 a.m. 4.Would you take part in this again? i'm a glutton for punishment, so there's a good chance. 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? 6. Before and after photo or other photos? Additional Comments: Seriously though, It was cool seeing such a good turnout, and so many people with such amazing comickery skills. EVERYONE was like "oh, it's not very good", but I didn't see ONE comic that didn't look good...everyone did really well, and should be proud of themselves. Big Congrats to Gerald and ComicKazi for putting on the event, and to everyone else for just coming out for some fun.

Damian - Your comic is unbelievably hilarious! Derek - Those are some cool, trippy drawings! Man, I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody's comics, if we actually set something like that up.
I agree with Alden (extremely cool pages, by the way) - this event is a good motivator, once you finally physically recover from it.
Like, for instance, if I ever need inspiration in the future, I can just think back to how Mr. Nick basically did the entire last half of his incredibly cool comic in a mad sprint in the dying hours of the event. The funniest part was when he suddenly realized that he had accidentally written complete gibberish for his dialogue and had to re-write it. I'm still laughing about that, haha.

Actually, while I'm still waiting for a few final numbers to soak in, you ended up being the *second* biggest single location. Casablanca had about 50 reservations, but not everyone showed up... and even the folks who did show up were sent to a variety of physical locations, because they simply didn't have room in the shop for that many (and apparently they basically emptied the shop in order to fit the onest that they did!) So yeah, you guys come in second to Austin Books in terms of participation, and that ain't hay!
But it should give you something to shoot for next year.
I'm glad this event came off so well for you, and that you were able to meet creative goals and get some good press attention to boot! Good work, Garcia, on hustiling this together, and thank you to you, your staff, and all the cartoonists for participating in the madness.
I look forward to seeing your stories.

1. Completed or number of pages done?
24pencilled ... 24inked ... 24 uh ... lettered ...
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently?
I'm 74.6% happy with it. I ended up skimping out on a few pages. I took out a whole page of dialog (character development but not important to the story itself) ... lost some backgrounds.
I'd maybe pick a simpler subject for the comic and never draw a vehicle.
3.How would you improve this event?
I know exposure for the event was a big thing, which I'm sure helped for sponsors, but really, there was too much distraction during the day, between people asking questions to TV reporters to stormtroopers ... In other words, not in the middle of a mall. I had attended a 24hr comic event long ago and it was in a private room in an apt. building.
4.Would you take part in this again?
yes
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic?
main character shooting other person ... don't ask why, I don't know.
Additional Comments:
I'll be printing the "raw" 24hr comic for sale in a limited quantity with a B&W cover, then I'll be doing a "special edition" with all my mistakes fixed up, dialog added back in, backgrounds added, relettered in the computer and other enhancements, probably to 28 pages with colour cover ... and probably have Billy shoot first (ha ha lame joke)

Hello everyone, Craig Nolin here, the guy who spent more time talking then drawing and then playing PSP when his mind went at 5 am.
1. Completed or number of pages done?
15 penciled, 9 inked.
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently?
Was not happy with my book, though never doing a book myself before, it was good experience. My brain died at 5 am so I did much more talking than drawing, though I didn't regret that.
3.How would you improve this event?
Better chairs! My back was killing me until I got a pillow.
4.Would you take part in this again?
Absolutely.
Good to meet the good lot of you!
Thanks Derek for the encouragement to continue drawing.

1. Completed or number of pages done? I didn't finish. I had 10.5 pages inked and done. Nearly halfway! 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? Meh, it's okay. In the future I'd try for fewer panels per page, and make things more simple. Also not draw anyone with black hair -- OMG INKING. 3.How would you improve this event? Better chairs. Maybe an organized meet n/ greet around supper break, with everyone. I really would have liked to have talked to more people and seen their comics. But it's kind of intrusive to wander around and stick your face in someone's work when they're trying to get 24 pages done. Also, being in the mall was super distracting as a lot of people interrupted me with questions. 4.Would you take part in this again? Maybe! 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? The left one, below: <img src=" pics.livejournal.com/taeha/pic/0002h5b8">Additional Comments: It was fun and I'm glad I participated. Thank you to Comickazi for putting it all together! Unfortunately my drawing hand couldn't cope with so much sustained work, and my brain was about dead in the wee hours.

TEXTCompleted number of pages? Man I got 24 all done including the cover page. Ionly did inking here or there. Are you happy with your work? What would you have done differently? Um considering this was the first time I have ever had a time cap yeah I was happy obviously every artist thinks they could have done better but the fact that so many people did this in 24 hours straight that's something to be happy about. Next time I would probably ink the page after I finished it just so it would look better. How would you improve the event? You know what you guys did a fantastic job setting it up supplying us with food, the midnight madness sale, and the star wars guys, awesome WEs, Fiona, Gerald, Mary Ann you guys thanks for making it so succesful and enjoyably stretching:) Would you take part again? I totally would next year I can't wait to see who has improved what new ideas people have and how much artistic training they've gone through. All in all it was a blast Gerald you can totally print my comic and everyone who was there who I didn't know your art was amazing and your awesome people remember to know what your dreams are and give them to God after that believe and the only thing that can stop you is you. God Bless Cheers Participant #6 Katlin.

1. Completed or number of pages done? All 24 with heavy pencil, no inks, and poorly lettered.
2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? I'm stoked I was able to finish and like at least half of what I did. I don't think I'd do much different.
3.How would you improve this event? I like the idea of better chairs, but overall I thought everything was great.
4.Would you take part in this again? Oh hell ya!
5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? When I get my pages back I'll let you all know.
6. Before and after photo or other photos? When I get the pictures back from the developer I'll let you all know ;D
Thanks to Gerald and the fine folks from Comic-Kazi for allowing all of us to participate in this event, as well as all the sponsors who contributed. This was definately a highlight in my drawing career and it was great to spend it with all of you talented, like-minded people.
Cheers to all!

Questions:
1. Completed or number of pages done? 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? 3.How would you improve this event? 4.Would you take part in this again? 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? ( can be included later) 6. Before and after photo or other photos?
Hey All...the aftermath...
I was pretty dull and very mundane at the 24 hr comic-thon. I talked to some people and it was really cool to see the many styles and different techniques that everyone used. If I wasn't such a mysterious nomad I probably would've talked to everyone like my fellow VA member...MR. Nick. Congrats to all who finished cause I sure didn't.
1. I got at least 4 or so pencilled. But after I wasn't feeling the story anymore...I was just having fun being with all the artists. I got the first paged inked but I think that was the only page I got down.
2. Of course I was happy to a point. I was going in this thing at it the wrong way. I had the drive and the confidence the night before. But then when it actually started I lost it...more meditation...for next year. I'll definetly do more next year. I would definetly thumbnail and spend my time going through it first when the idea comes to mind. I tried rushing into it.
3. CHAIRS!! I know everyone's said it before and I'll say it again....I love being a tur....oh I mean the chairs were mighty uncomfortable...ahem...my back is still killing me.
4. I for sure going to be there next year...this was such a great experience...and now I know what to expect for next year.
5. Fav page actually...was the first one...unfortunatley it was a splash....but it was one I'm proud of.
6. Before and after photos...wish I took them...but I'm soooooooo camera shy!
Again thanks Gerald, Comic-Kazi and everyone for feeding, supplying everything. You guys did a great job...and I thank you for allowing the chance to take part in this crazy ride. Do not worry...you have not heard the last of me...The red range....I mean...Mr. Johnny. HAHA!
Thanks again!.

1. Completed or number of pages done? 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? 3.How would you improve this event? 4.Would you take part in this again? 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? ( can be included later) 6. Before and after photo or other photos? --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. I managed to complete 20 pencilled pages. During the event I would regularly walk around and take a look at what everyone was doing and where they were in order to keep my sanity. 2. Dispite the fact i never got to ink it or finish 24 pages i was quite happy with what i accomplished! Gerald informed me of an entertaining way to go about completing the comic, which was taking 3 random words from the dictionary and basing my comic off of those words. It was entertaining to make such a wacky comic. Next year i want to focus alot more, and maybe even get the inking done. 3. The chairs were pretty comfortable, compared to what i have sat on before. I just made sure i didn't stay in one spot for too long (occasional walks helped). The food was great, the atmosphere was very creative. 4. I would definitely do this again. I already have my tactics layed out for next year, next time i won't do so much walking around and try to focus more, and i won't waste the first hour deciding what to do. 5. I saved my favourite panel to a floppy (the one where wrath on the clocks ensue) , but unfortunately that disc is now corrupt and won't work, so i provide you with my second favourite panel. It was subject of staying up late and getting really silly. Yes yes, i know it has been done before, but has it been done with a blindfold?! You can find it at this www.deviantart.com/view/17845903/ you will have to full view it to see the writing. Thanks everyone, for doing so much to contribute to the event. Thank you Gerald and all of those that made this event possible. Fear the power of the blindfold!

Okay, so this is me and the infamous Diaperman (who smelled Talcum fresh, by the way.) www.viciousambitious.com/images/zoo and 24hr 005.jpg[/img] And this is Mr. Johnny and Mr. Vince, raring to go and ready to teach the 24hr challenge a lesson in humility. www.viciousambitious.com/images/zoo and 24hr 002.jpg[/img] This is me acting like a big man by lording it over Vader Jr. Shortly after this photo was taken, he force crunched by manhood. www.viciousambitious.com/images/zoo and 24hr 006.jpg[/img] Behold! The true face of Snowman! (AKA Chris, a real cool dude) And Mr. Vince again . . . Hooray for thick rimmed glasses! www.viciousambitious.com/images/zoo and 24hr 007.jpg[/img] And here's the red panda I saw at the zoo early Sunday morning. Isn't he totally awesome!? www.viciousambitious.com/images/zoo and 24hr 015.jpg[/img] In short, the 24hr event was some of the most fun I've ever had. Only 350 days to go till next year . . .

1. Completed or number of pages done? Heh, I so totally didn't even come close to finishing... I was marked as a noble effort, which was very very nice of whoever decided it was that... lol. I started jumping around inking whatever panels inspired me at the end, so if I were to cram them all onto the same page, I'd probably have about 9-10 pages inked, maybe 16 pages done in some detail in pencil and all 24 pages blocked out. 2. Are you happy with your book? What would you do differently? Hrm... tough question - compared to some of the other work there? My book was a complete piece. It sucked hardcore. However, that being said, I entered this to challenge myself, and I learned a lot about drawing at the event (see additional comments for explination of exactly how much I learned). I had a ton of fun and I produced something that I otherwise never would have produced, so yeah, I'm happy :-D 3.How would you improve this event? Hmmm... I think people are being picky about the better chairs, the mall rental chairs are what they are, there's not a whole lot of room for improvement there, but yeah, next year I'd likely bring a pillow or my own rolly desk chair or something. Would have been neat to meet more people, but again, most couldn't afford the break. Taking into account the fact that the event had certain limitations being in a mall (rental chairs, lack of outlets - partly augmented by this participant's stupidity and lack of bringing a POWERBAR, lights that turn off at night, becoming an attraction for passersby etc) I thought it was GREAT! The one thing people kept asking me is if it was for charity... maybe that's a possibility? Like a walk a thon... with less walking, and more drawing... 4.Would you take part in this again? HELL YES. Only next year I think I'd consider doing my comic on computer - because I can't draw, and computers are kinder to me than erasers... hehehe 5. Your favourite Panel in your comic? Hrm... hehehe, now I have to go look at my comic *runs upstairs* OK, apparently I didn't ink my favorite panel, but it was a really cool looking army shot... the favorite one that I actually did - the last one on my first page, wolf standing in front of a camp because it's the only panel that actually looks like my comic was sort of *supposed* to look before my brain was apparently taken over my aliens at 3AM. Additional Comments: Alrighty, I took this challenge on because someone said it was impossible to produce anything worth looking at. Impossible for *me*? yes, but I saw TONS of AMAZING work come out of that day, so no, it's not impossible. Before I entered this day, I had never read a comic book before (save for Duck Tales as a kid, Uncle Scrooge was awesome... swimming in that that money) so I had no idea what a comic book was supposed to look like. If you don't believe me, you can ask my co-workers, who can attest that on Friday afternoon I was frantically running up to anyone and everyone asking "Have you ever read a comic book?!?! What's it supposed to look like?!?! How many box thingys on a page?!?!" I also gave up drawing in grade 7, so to suddenly pick it back up again at 21 to not only draw something recognizable, but 24 pages of recognizable things in 24 hours? Heh, kinda daunting (I was the one with the kiddy "how to draw animals" books) Thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to Comic-Kazi and everyone who volunteered to help with this event. It was AMAZING, from the great food to all the wicked people I got to meet. If you need help organizing or badgering sponsors for cash next year, please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email, because I would love to help. This was something I never thought I'd do, and even though I didn't finish, I still learned an incredible amount - for example, draw an easier comic, like one about a pie Thanks again to EVERYONE who made this event so enjoyable and memorable for me - sorry for such long winded answers.
