Just to let all who are attending the Calgary Comic & Toy Expo on May 28 know, I will be conducting two workshops that I think will be beneficial to all who attend.
The first will be for pencillers. Professional-level portfolio presentation is something that all artists should be striving for and yet is something that I have seen so little of in my years in this industry. I'll give a presentation on how to set up the pages in an order that will catch the attention of editors right from the start, as well as other, less considered factors in presentation.
The second is planned as a lesson on how to evaluate the effectiveness of visual storytelling. Many examples will be provided and all are encouraged to voice their opinions. It is going to be structured as more of an open forum, so don't be shy to voice your opinions. This is for creators and readers alike.
Both of these workshops will last a 1/2 hour each, so if anyone would like me to look over their work at the show, I'll make myself as available as possible. I will also be having two other people at my table with me this year. One is doing her internship with me (she's extremely on-the-ball, so don't expect the standard "that's good" from her) and the other is hopefully a new publisher here in town. He'll be there to look at Calgary's best and brightest.
Last but not least, I will be handing out a questionnaire at the show on what makes an effective cover. Yes, that's a question I've asked here and on other sites, but it's time for your audience to voice their opinions as well. Let's see what they have to say!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.

Steve,
Looking forward to the seminar, I'll make a point of attending this year.
Q1: Is there a way we can set this up, so that some of the people who have tables can attend your seminar?
Make up signs " Exhibitor at Seminar"
Q2: Have times been set?
Q3: If it's not too soon, invite Mr.Calgary Publisher on to MIC? To see some of the local talent?
Thanks.
GGG.
