Hey everyone! I am sure the majority of us are going to the ACCA con on May 28th. We should all meet up after the con and meet for dinner or something fun!
Anyone interested? What should we do? just go for dinner or something?

Sounds good to me...( if M. let's me go?)
Where can you get 10 to 20 people together comfortably?
Quick list of restaurants in the area: Boston Pizza, Moose MaGuires, Lucciano's, Nick's, Chili's, Korean BBQ...any others to add?
So after the show take down, sometime after 6PM on a Saturday night...hhmmm?

Hey, bring her along. I might drag Ry along with me. A little treat for helping me at the con ^_^
Well if everyone RSVPs with me, I can look into reserving a place or something.

It'd be handy if there was a deadline for RSVPing. I'd like to make the show this year, but I won't know if it's doable until much nearer the date.

Where can you get 10 to 20 people together comfortably? ...any others to add? It's a bit of a trek for those without vehicles, but the Imaginative Fiction Writers Association used Piazza Pizza for a gathering place after its meetings for a couple years (might still be doing it, for all I know, haven't checked recently). It's got an area towards the back of the restaurant that can seat twenty+ people reasonably comfortably and with a degree of privacy (it's not its own room, but it is a row of tables a bit apart from the rest of the restaurant), and the best part for me was that it was quieter than some of the other options. Twenty people talking is loud enough on its own, twenty people talking, plus a Saturday night crowd, plus intrustively loud music or television can cut useful conversation down considerably in my experience. We would need to warn them we were coming, though, if it was decided we wanted to use the place. Piazza Pizza House Ltd (403) 246-4664 1637 37 St SW Calgary, AB

Last year I was fortunate enough to have dinner with the show's guests. This was a great experience because it allowed me to make new contacts, get the inside dirt on the industry, and associate with people who have been on the inside, some of them for years. They're very approachable generally speaking and do actually eat every once in a while. I think if you're going to do something like this, you should make some space for the guests.

Big T BBQ is right across the bridge on Crowchild Tr, but I've never been there...CAR POOLS may have to be arranged? Extra help for show take down in exchange?
Piazza Pizza House Ltd, would be around Westbrook Mall?
So, who has room for extra passengers and gear?

Big T isn't very big. I used to eat there when it was an italian restaurant...
oh well, we'll see how many people want to go, to start. If nothing else, my house could be made available. It's big enough to accomidate lots of people, but it's a bit of a drive, I live just outside the city in Bearspaw.
no RSVP date just yet, it's still early ^_^

If I recall correctly, there's a Luciano's, Keg, and a pub about a 10 minute walk west of the Stadium.
The Keg's pricey and I've never been to the other two, but I figured I'd just toss those in to the mix of places in contention.

I think it's a Nick's not a Keg. But yeah, it's still pricey. I suppose if we could arrange driving, or are willing to hop on the C-train there is a Mongolie Grill, Earls and a Boston Pizza in Dalhousie station.

mwehehe....
If we're travelling via Ctrain, then that opens a whole bunch of other possibilities.
Chili's < North Hill Shopping Centre Kilkenny's < Brentwood Ginger Beef < Brentwood Pizza Hut < Brentwood Madison's Grill (Is it still there? I forget) < Brentwood

Y2K Saigon, is just across the bridge from MacMahon Stadium. I've not been there but it maybe big enough. Has anyone on MIC been there? If not I'll have to check it out or make a call. GGG.

It's quite good (noodles, rice dishes, other traditional Vietnamese dishes), but almost always extremely busy. If we do plan to go, reservations are a MUST.

I hope the deadline for RSVP is not so soon. I haven't really made up my mind yet until I've talked to my wife. But I'm sure I'd like to come.

Gerald, I'll confirm with you in the next day or two, just trying to find out who will be coming with me. I might have a guess and also my daughter. So for now put three persons under my name. Thanks.

Hi Temperance,
I'm not too sure what I'll be doing that day, but could you please include me in your reservation list? There's a really high chance that I'll be there, I just wasn't 100% yet, so I was hesitating to actually make the reservation.
Thank you very much and I look forward to meeting you all. Later!

Hey Dev,
Just checking...what time is the reservation for?
If anybody is coming on board late, you are welcome to come along...we don't know if you would get to sit with us. Still," the more the merrier!"

Sorry about the delay folks... I got my script from Egg at Arcana, and I've been busting my butt to get as much of it done as possible (thanks to work, I barely get a few hours a night to draw). ^_^;;;;
I did TRY to make reservations, but apparently Saigon Y2K does NOT take reservations. So I guess we'll have to play it by ear. I don't see it being a problem to get in somewhere... I'm sure between the 9 of us, we can share driving to help those who are not car-enabled if Saigon y2k is full.
We'll have to meet after the con somewhere. It will take some time for those with tables to pack up our stuff after the con.
