I was putting together some mix discs for 24 hour comic book day and I got to thinking. Covers of old songs, either you love 'em or you hate 'em. Now, whether you're a purist or not, you gotta admit, there must be some song you'd like to hear performed by another band. It doesn't necessarily mean that you hate the original, but with so many covers done so badly these days, I wanna know, if you had the power, what songs would you like covered by what bands?
Myself, I'd have to say:
Stairway to Heaven by Tenacious D
While my Guitar Gently Weeps by The White Stripes
Paint it Black by The Distillers
Yesterday by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Bohemian Rhapsody by Tool
Yeah, I'm crazy. Crazy for the days of good music.

Barney Bentall covered ACDC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" as an acoustic ballad. I like stuff like that where the song is recognizable, but done in a different way. 80's band Saga covered the Beatles' "I'm the Taxman" in a minor key with a hard rock beat. That was really interesting, too.

People are Strange by Hot Hot Heat?
Hmmm. This is hard.
PS - Does anyone know why my little graph claims that I have 0 posts when I, in fact, have at least three more?

PS - Does anyone know why my little graph claims that I have 0 posts when I, in fact, have at least three more? The only logical explanation is that the graph is trying to sabotage you. Don't worry, though. I'll get him for you…<br> Pow! Bop! Biff! There. I got him for you. He won't be giving you any more trouble now… isn't that right, Mr. graph? (Mr. Graph picks his teeth off the floor and nods in timid agreement.)

A couple of Pacific Northwest bands from the 60s did some pregnant dogin' covers.
The Sonics did "Have Love, Will Travel" and "Money," in a raucous way.
The Wailers (not the Marley group) did "Mary Anne" and "Louie, Louie" way cool.
