After talking with the group-post Jam-we tossed the idea around for another MIC Jam. ACAD is a larger place to gather a huge group and it is close to Kinkos. We don't get as much exposure, but we get work done.
The BBQ will be on Saturday, July 2nd at Bowness Park 4:00 PM to how everlong people want to stay. I know the Westercon usually wraps by 6 PM. Hopefully most people can make it?
Thank You.

Actually, I was just looking at the WesterCon programming list and there's stuff going on some, if not most days up till and past 9:00 PM (I'm on one 9:00 PM panel that I know of)...the last panel I'm on on Saturday (so far) ends at 6:00, I've asked if they can move it back a couple hours...I'll definitely TRY to make it, in any event...
...I'm also hoping to get some MICers passes to come in and take part in the WesterCon Comics Jam (which apparently Derek is in charge of, though given the way this stuff goes, I'm not sure he knows he's in charge yet...) without having to pay the membership fee...we'll see how that one goes.

If we can firm up a date, perhaps we should also decide on who can bring what?
As long as I can book the day off, I can probably bring hot dogs and smores ingreds....

Which would work better, take a list on who will bring what item or make this pot-luck? Jamie H. one of our members works with Bridge Brand Foods. She has generously offered to get us some food items at a discount. If we go this route, a food fund or collection would have to be done. We have a couple of weeks to decide, so get on this thread if you have other ideas. Hhhmm cheese smokies...even better jalapeno cheese smokies... Thank You. GarSeeYa! Just a note- this is a Family EVENT, friends and family are invited. Please let me know here if you plan to attend, and how many people in your group (if more than one?).

Assuming Bowness Park isn't under a few feet of water, I'm in. However you want to work out the food is fine, I'll contribute food or money.

wow, I know you guys are all long time members of this site, so Im going out on a limb here as I barely know any of you, but I live in Bowness so your making it easy for me to come down and spy on you from a distance before I let my shy introverted self to muster up the power to say hello.
How many of you already know each other?

wow, I know you guys are all long time members of this site... There's really no such thing as a long-time member of this site--it's only been around three, maybe four months, tops, but in that time, a lot of connections have been made. I know several of the people taking part in board activities from seeing them for a few days once a year at Con-Version--Derek, Damian, Rik, a few others. On the other hand, I communicate with Fiona and Gerald about stuff fairly regularly online, and I've yet to meet either of them face-to-face. Bottom line is, there's no reason at all to be shy or feel like a "junior member"...it's still a young board. Those kinds of distinctions really aren't conducive to a constructive or creative atmosphere, in any event. A

All you need is one KEY person with the most contacts, having been at CK for too long and an Artist for longer...I had the tools to start this up.Then I got in touch with other KEY persons:Andrew and it went from there. Still the circle is relatively small in Calgary, we have had common connections throughout the years. I'm very happy to have Started MIC. The BBQ and the MIC Jam may really consolidate this group, so if you can make it, we'll be happy to have you join us.
Now we just have to get the rest of Canada to join us?

Yeah, I really didn't know anyone when I first signed up. I gradually started meeting the key players at Comickazi, 24 hour comic book day, and the Maple Ink comic Jam. It's all a matter of staying available and staying involved in the community. As I've already met two new members last weekend, I can safely say that no one really looks like their avatar. Even mine, I look way crappier in real life.
Anyways, I'm still on the fence about the BBQ thing. Once the details emerge, I'll decide for sure.

WEll thanks for making me feel more welcome, if not yet awkward, but thats my own fault LOL
I probably have met some of you at Comic Kazi then. hehe, how circles run rampant when the world is made smaller by those who know someone who knows someone.

Hey Vince,
If it's the bus trip there, we could possibly give you a ride if we met at like NorthHill or something to that effect.

Carpool and cell phone #s.
This looks to be a common theme...please sign up on this thread if you need a ride to Bowness Park. Volunteers with vehicles would help too-indicate which section (quadrant:N,S,E,W) of the city you are located. PM each other for phone numbers.
North Hill Mall sounds like a good pick up point.
Thanks.

It's a spooky and scary place.
I used to live there for a bit. Close to the b.Park ...
I may have one or 2 openings for a ride ... definitely one and if Vince wants it, he's got first 'dibs'

LOL, I do live in Bowness... and its not spooky and scary... its dingy and squalid, so long as you dont challenge any of the residents you will be fine.
The Park is easy to find, just follow Bowness Road to Bowness Park West. Or take the #1, it will drop you off right at the gate.

The #1 drops me off at the gate, eh? Well, there's a #1 stop near my place, so maybe I'll stop being such a weeny and let someone else ride with Chris.
Are we getting a list of food to bring? I mean, we can't all bring smokies, we need variety. I think we should make a list of food everyone's bringing. I gotta warn you guys, I make some pretty good burger patties. Just ask Mr. Steve, if he ever starts posting again.

For the cyclists, the bike path takes you all the way out there. It's a pretty ride by the river.
Ding! Ding!
