i only have a week left or so to wrap things up on the latest book, and have to finalize my cover....which is where you come in. I would REALLY appreciate it, if you could let me know which of the three covers below you like best, or would most likely make you want to pick up the comic and read more. Yes, "NONE" is also a choice... keep in mind, the first one is a little more finished, but recolouring might not hurt, and the next two are somewhat quicker sketches with quick "cover" layouts...just base it on which idea you like best, and find the most compelling to want to take a look inside. MUCH APPRECIATED!!!! thanks, -damian

I'm into the middle one the most ... but not the drop shadow. Especially for art that's very "2D" , the drop shadow just doesn't sit well. The cover feels a touch bit washed out ... it just needs a little more punch in my opinion.
The same thing about the drop shadow can be said about the glow on the logo on the first cover. Maybe you want it to stand out and have that UFO 'feel' ... I'd say make it a solid color instead of the glow.
But that's just me, I'm not into the basic "here's my photoshop drop shadow/glow"
All else looks good. .... first or second cover I'd pick ... 2nd cover is first choice.

Yeah, the middle one. Agree you should punch up the tones. Try putting the logo on a hanging sign or some other prop. How does it feel just laying it on top? Or putting it in an oval? Drop shadows suck.

They're all good.
How about using the first and third as a flip cover and using the second as a background on the inside cover behind your issue notes. Also include one free iTunes download with each issue. Garageband... hmm...

Dude,
I like the first one best. They're all cool and stuff but the first one jumps out at you. Or me. Ah....? So yes, I vote the first one. Now get to it already!
Oh, and on a side note, what day are you heading down to San Diego?

Well, after much thinking, I've realized that I can't really help you out at all, Damian. I think they're all good.
The third one is probably my least favourite. The first two look like they're more unique and original. The third one is a very simple cover idea.
My first instinct was that the first one was the best, but when I sat back and started thinking, I thought that the second one was probably better. I think the second one might stand out on bookshelves a lot more than the first one, especially if you darkened all the drawing parts (turn the grey ink lines to black) and left the background pale blue.
Also, the second one bears a vague, vague resemblance to the upcoming Too Much Coffee Man book cover, and Too Much Coffee Man is cool.
So, yeah, I guess the second one might be my choice. But don't worry - I won't despise you if you pick one of the others, heh heh.

Yeah, I like the first one better. The third's too simple and the second ones too empty, it's almost like a pinup. Everything on the first one really popped out and its just more exciting.

I think the 2nd one is charming. :)
Sure, the first one has stuff jumping out, but in the hyperactive chaos of a comic store shelf, it can be the quiet solid-colour covers that you notice first. You know, an eyerest. Plus all the space at the top makes the title really pop. I would just punch out the reds a bit.
And lose the drop shadow... basically, what Chris said.

Hmm...for the record, I like the drop shadow (that's the gradient from white to blue in the background, right?).

No, the drop shadow is the black shadow behind the logo. Like it's casting a shadow.
But the gradient (white to blue) brings up a good point. Make sure you find a good printer for that if you go with it. I've seen gradients turn really bad in print ... it could be fine, but it's always good to check.

Oh, and on a side note, what day are you heading down to San Diego? I've been garnering choices from across the internet...seems like most people like the first one. It's not really a fair comparison though, as the 2nd one is a quick sketch that had no intention of being a cover, with a logo slapped on the top to make it look like a cover, and the third one was just a bonus choice.. Oh, I'm leaving for san Diego July 13th ...so i'll probably be a little late getting my table set up for preview night

Thanks everyone!
