We have immediate need for highly skilled Character Modellers within our Character department. Electronic Arts Canada is spearheading the adaptation process for next-generation consoles; creating a challenging and rewarding department for artists to collaborate in while shaping the creation of the 3D counterparts of the worlds most sophisticated characters. This team is an ideal environment for both senior and junior artists alike blending new ideas, evolutions, and innovations with tried and true methods, experience and wisdom from both the videogame and film industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES for CHARACTER MODELERS
· Based upon concept drawings/reference materials, create models for primary aspects/assets of a title that are consistently built within the correct scale
· Work within the technical limitations and remain within budgets supplied
· Assist in establishing modeling workflows and protocols
· Create models that are animated easily and reliably
· Use techniques to build textures that are resolution independent
· Conduct research for models; construct physical form studies or physical models as necessary
· Build basic textures; apply textures to models; provide feedback to texture artists as necessary;
REQUIREMENTS:
· Diploma in 3D animation is required
· Strong organic modelling skills
· Strong drawing skills (light, form, shadow, color)
· Knowledge of the human anatomy and form
· Strong texturing skills - photographic manipulation, texturing & colour correction
· Excellent organizational skills (goal setting, working towards milestones)
· Time management (creating art that is consistent based on reference within a time frame)
· Excellent 3D modelling and texturing skills
· Strong Maya knowledge
· Strong PhotoShop abilities
· Attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions
· Understanding of efficient models and texture layouts
· Exceptional communication skills are a must
· Ability to manage a large number of assets with minimal supervision
· Strong time management skills and able to meet deadlines
· Team player attitude with a good grasp of customer service and diplomacy when dealing with internal clients. Positive attitude, pro-active personality
DEMO REEL REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal demo reel will showcase an artist’s ability to create realistic human form and likeness while also demonstrating a flair for creativity. It will include highly detailed and clean texture work!
· High quality, character models in low, medium and high polygon counts
· Ability to create realistic human form and likeness
· Clean texturing skills and an eye for colour
· Good use of light and shadow
· Excellent sense of scale and form
· Excellent level of finish Drawing skills
PORTFOLIO/DEMO REEL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES (We review all demo reels submitted)
All demo submissions are reviewed and must include the following:
-Demo reels should only be submitted as DVD (QuickTime Movies preferred), or personal website. (No VHS)
-A detailed summary/shot list of what your particular contributions were and which software you used.
-Cover Letter
-Resume (Hardcopy resume included with mailed hardcopy demo submission)
-Demos 3 to 5 minutes in length.
*Please only send copies of your art as submissions can not be returned.
