Yesterday, you could have offered me free tickets to this and I would have thought about it for a minute before probably saying, "Maybe."
After that trailer, I can't wait for fall.
Amazing.

Ooooooh, yeah, baby!!! King Kong by Peter Jackson? A fan boys wet dream!
Apparently, Jackson wanted to do Kong years ago, but the studio rejected him, as they figured he was not a recognizable box office draw enough to resurect the long dead franchise. After Lord Of the Rings, Hollywood was kissing his ass. Needless to say, Kong got made.
For all you youg'ns out there, King Kong is considered by Hollywood's special effects industry as the most influential movie in cinematic history. King Kong came out in 1933, and featured a 50 foot tall stop-motion gorrilla with personality. Willis O'Brien inspired the great Ray Harryhaussen (look it up if you are unfamiliar)amongst many others. I'm hoping they release a special edition on Dvd to coincide with the new one's release. (Oh, and it featured battles between Kong and dinosaurs.)
A remake was made in 1976, which I enjoyed at the time, but watching it today, you can see how it missed the mark in many respects. Dino Delaurentis, the producer bragged at the time that they had built a life-size Kong for the movie to build hype, but the thing appeared for maybe two minutes of screen time looking like some lame amusement park display. The rest of the film starred (I believe Rick Baker-once again look it up)a man in a monkey suit. (No dinosaurs to battle-only one big uber-lame snake)
There was 43 years from original to remake to another 29 years again, which brings us to the present version. ...and if you've seen the trailer, there are once again dinosaurs. All hail Peter Jackson! I'm squirming in my seat waiting for this. I'm just amazed they showed so much in what is considered to be a 'teaser'. I figured we wouldn't actually see Kong until the full theatrical trailer.
