Well,
I guess I can start with Seattle...we originally were going to drive down like we have the last couple of years, but this time we couldn't get the time off of work we needed for the long drive. This year's Emerald City Comicon was the the first time it was going to be a two day show. Seattle's been one of our best (if not the best) show that we've been exhibiting at.
The Seattle show was the first of three shows we were going to, so we knew that we had to get issue #4 finished for it. We actually got the book done a couple days ahead of schedule for a change, which meant we didn't have to go from the printer's and then directly to the airport...customs can sometimes be tricky (more on that in the future).
We get to the airport, and our flight's delayed for a couple of hours, which we were cool with. We just sat and relaxed. Finally, we get on the plane and there's Cary Nord sitting right up at the front. And...our seats were at the back of the bus. The flight itself was pretty empty, and Cary walked all the way back to sit with us. We had a pretty cool chat all the way down, and the free wine they served helped too!
The flight was a little bumpy, but a safe landing is a good landing. We showed up real late at the Seattle airport, and there were a couple of guys with hand made signs for some of the guests of the show, like Cary, Adam Kubert, and a bunch of other guys. The show's organizer, Jim, was there too, and he's one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He let us ship him all of our inventory for the show to his shop. We hung around a little longer and David Finch showed up.
Anyways, the show was pretty cool, last year they had about 2,500 people attend the show, but I'm not sure how many were there this year. The show for us was pretty steady throughout, and not crazy like it was last year. We talked with tons of people, from pros to fans, to people passing by.
The cool thing was to have some people that were seeking us out at the show. That's always a good feeling. We did pretty good at the show, and it was definitely worth the trip...
And then from there we shipped out our inventory to San Francisco...

Issue #4 is done...really! I'm not lying! I just haven't found any free time to bring them out to any of the shops yet. Redd Skull's got them, but that's because they're just a couple blocks away from our new place that we're moving into. We'll finally be there by April 17th....new home, new studio, it'll be fun!

Hi Kandrix,
We've never met, but I figured I'd give you a holler anyway, heh heh.
I remember when the Monk's Tale comics first started coming out and they had that cool "Community Section" in the back. I'd say that that section was probably the first big step towards the unification of Calgary's comic scene (which this board is continuing) and so I figured I'd give you props for doing that. You're welcome, heh heh.
Good luck with Monk's Tale and whatever else you guys decide to do.

Thanks man,
I appreciate the props. It's a ton of work trying to pull these books together, and really we're just starting out. I'm really impressed with the results from the 24H comic, i was talking to some folks in Edmonton, and they had less then 10 people at theirs...I think it was hosted at Horizon Comics? A new shop or something?
Anyhow, we'll be set up at the May show later this month, so drop on by and say hello!

Missed this one...actually, thirteen or fourteen people showed up at Happy Harbor Comics, which is a new show, to take part in 24 Hour Comic Day. I suspect turn-out would've been a bit better if participants weren't required to show up with 100 dollars in donations. On the upside, we managed to raise more than $1600 for the Alberta Literacy Foundation. (And, on a purely selfish level, doing stuff like this for charity can be really good for free publicity...not that I knew that when I signed up.) A

Hello Kandrix,
Met you in Seattle ( well met you at the first ECCC back a few years as well) and was one of the guys look for you. Got my hands on #4 and it is awsome. The best issue so far. Ended up picking up some other stuff the next day after thinging about it for alittle bit too (those sketch minis were wicked and a very nice touch). Hopefully you will be at ECCC again this year and maybe we will run into one another again. BTW looking forward to seeing #5 finished.
