We signed up because we're cool. You want to be cool too, don't you? Because only nerds don't take part in 24hr comic day.

Its you and 20 other people in a mall, overnight ,drawing and going crazy like chimps in a lab experiment! Coffee provided by Second Cup! and bring a friend while you're at it, artists need support and inspirado.

I'm in, I'm in, I'm in! Please don't hunt me down and feed my entrails to your army of heavily textured minions, Damien!
But yeah, I just dropped my ten spot today and reserved me a place around the bonfire. What's that? No fire?
We'll see about that.

Thanks for using your Dork Boy powers damian. Being the spawn of a dark lord seems to help... We are a dozen for 24HC.
We had a small rush in today.
I'll update again Saturday.
I was interviewed today for the Calgary Herald for an article about " Women in Comics" it comes out next Thursday, April 14th.
Thanks Guys and Gals!
Sorry No bonfire, we have a microwave, but that does nothing for the ambience.

Betcha #17 is Cary Nord. Or William Hung, either one's good. But it is a shame that Laurie and Kandrix aren't attending.

I think #17 is a swear word that some no-good troublemaker wrote on Gerald's list. But, instead of posting that word up here, Gerald has decided to censor it and protect us all from such profane language.
Thank you Gerald.

Hey all,
it's really too bad we won't be there for the event. We're actually committed to doing the Pop Culture show in Edmonton on the 24th....and driving there and back without sleeping is probably a bad idea....
I was planning to do this wicked Liefeld comic where I could draw a character flying through the air in this totally awesome dynamic physically impossible pose....complete with 73 teeth, veins, and bulging pectoral muscles...and then, I was going to photocopy that page 22 times, but just slightly change the costume from page to page....dude, it's going to be totally wicked!
Sigh....

Right on Cog, glad to see you decided to join in the madness. It was my pleasure, Vince. If you ever need somebody to fill up a forum with inane banter, you can count on me. I also do pointless musings and long-winded anecdotes for a low monthly fee. Just give me a shout and I'll hook you up.

Thanks, I'll keep that mind, but once we train our parrot to type, you'll be downsized to forum lurker. Grr... Beaten by a parrot again. Those darn parrots are taking all our jobs and putting honest, hard-working Canadians out of work! Don't get sucked in by their flashy plumage and good typing skills! They'll fly away the instant you open the cage! And they're evil!

24HC Blog has started up, check out other 24HC host comments on their activities. I managed to get ZED/CBCinto promoting the International event too. The Calgary Herald will be doing interviews for their REAL LIFE section, following 24HC. Some of MIC members may be contacted, starting Monday. Official start time for the event is 9:30 AM. The latest you can check in is 11:00 AM. I will be there at 9 AM to set up. I may not be available for questions the rest of the day-as I am participating. Thanks. GarSeeYa!!!

Sigh.... sure, that sounds pretty wicked, but would you have a 36DD woman whose shredded t-shirt is barely stuck on with invisible glue? and would she be standing on her toes all the time, whether she's wearing shoes or not? haha... it's a shame you can't make it.

I headed down to Northland Mall today (and I have the flu, so that's dedication for you) and went into ComicKazi (long story, but that contains a fair amount of dedication unto itself) and signed both Richard and I up for 24HR comic day.
That brought the total to 36 people!
Looking forward to seeing everyone down there.

Kevin & Rich,
Good to hear you're joining the madness!
We have Great Canadian Bagel (Northmount & Nortland Dr.NW) as our latest sponsor. I don't know what everyone likes on their bagels, so please bring PB, J or other gooey stuff for the carbs.
Thanks.
G.

Kevin & Rich, Good to hear you're joining the madness! Thanks. G. Happy to be there! Looking forward to it, if only to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in forever. Plus, meet the local comic creators crowd. It can all lead places!

Hey Gerald, should we eat breakfast before we arrive at the mall or are we getting food right away?

A food question...are we really "starving Artists"?
The only thing coming into the store, by days end Thursday, is pop and chips. All other sponsors (eg,bagels)food have to be made and delivered. No times have been set. I would have breakfast before coming.
Feeding 40 people has given us some concern.
The number of participants is more than we hoped for. CK will have to foot the bill for most of the food purchases and supplies. At the start we chose not to charge participants to enter the event.
I am asking MIC/24HC participants to make a donation... any amount will do- to offset their cost.
We are working very hard to make this a sucess, bring attention to Calgary artists and the comic scene. Hopefully, if all goes well, we will do this again next year.
On a different note, Maple Ink Comics Forum is one month old. We have 42 members. Is the Calgary comic Artist pond so small, that all the fish know each other? We are all in the same school, with a passion for creating better comics.
Thanks Everyone!
G.Gerald Garcia.
