This maybe too early...
But if anyone wants to do a swap, ashcan for ashcan of the comics they produce at this event, please get on a list here. Once all the books are printed up we can do a swap at the ACCA May 28th Show. Maybe even sell some there?
If anyone knows of a good place to produce low cost ashcans, let us know here.
Thanks.

I dunno about the other guys in Vicious Ambitious, but I was going to do an Ashcan of my 24 Hour comic for the ACCA show. If people wanted to do an exchange at the convention, I think that'd be really cool. This all depends on how my story turns out though, no point in distributing a collosal failure.

Can we get a similar rate at other locations? If we had all of ours done there could they give us a better deal? I may have to call them. Thanks. GGG.

I am in to trading my aschan in May. I will go for the above deal! It isnt complete swill! Hey Craig... ...since Mailboxes etc was one of our sponsors, I'm trying to see if we can get a further price break. The limitation may be that it has to be done at only one center. They want the repeat business. I'll give everyone further details, if more develops. The question has come up, " What if we don't like the book we have to trade or we don't have 24 pages done?" Simple solution, we could buy the books from each other to cover cost. If you feel extra generous, give them to people who want them. Wouldn't it be cool if we had a booth set up for MIC/24HC just to sell 24HC ashcans? This could be some work...so give me your thoughts. Thank you. My brain is mush...this is your brain post 24HC. I had "mush"rooms on three pages of my comic. I'll have "mushy"potatoes for supper-though potatoes have no toes....no..no..never smoked..mushrooms, but I like them on pizza. Okay gotta sleep, three pages are keeping me up...wanting to be done, then the forum calls. I need sleep...ZZZZZ. GGG.

I went to the Crowfoot location of Mailboxes in Crowfoot corner. But it should be a standard rate at all locations. Best to go down or call and arrange a price though. I had the guy I spoke with, write me up an invoice which I brought back at a later date with all my pages on a CD

Yeah, I'd be interested in doing something like this, if it gets off the ground, heh heh. I really don't want to show off my horrid comic, but I'd love to see everybody else's work, and so if that's what it takes then I guess I can bite the bullet and do it, heh heh.
One question...if we were to make Ashcans, would we be allowed to draw up front and back covers?

One question...if we were to make Ashcans, would we be allowed to draw up front and back covers? CG, That is allowed, in fact inner front and back cover is wide open. So a BIO or other info-like how you got the story started and other comments. Up you want to put in ads for MIC(hint) or Great Canadian Bagel...or yor dog walker...that's good too. One rule maybe? No touch ups? Erasing is fie. Thanks. GGG. PS- Anybody up for selling their 24HCD books on FCBD @ CK? May 7th,2005.

Thanks.

Comic Kazi (Wes& Mary Ann) is considering publication of a Calgary 24HCD Anthology.
This is a new development. We did not have the foresight to ask for permission to print the work. The impressive work has prompted this response.
Not all participants turned in pages. If you did not complete 24 pages or are printing your own book, please consider 3 or 4 pages to include in the Anthology. We would like to have as many of the Artist represented in this Book.
The initial print would go out to Participants, our generous Sponsors and CK staff.( A Public Library & School Edition may aalso be done.)
Public sale would be done NOT FOR PROFIT, but promotion. It would be sold almost at COST ( to cover printing) We would like to have the Anthology done for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, depending on participant RESPONSE and time limitations.
Please contact us to give premissions to limited print rights, also a short BIO including website and or email to include with your entry.
Your opinions on this topic is important to us.
Please let us know.
Thank You.
We want to do this again next year! We would like a good start with promotions.

G, an anthology sounds totally cool. If the folks at Comic-Kazi want to do that for us, I'm up for that! I have also been planning to print my 24 hour comics story as an ashcan for the ACCA, as well as 2 of the other stories I've been working on. So if the anthology doesn't go I'd still be up for trading ashcans with anyone who wants to.

For 24HCD Participants who want to give us clearance to include your work in this Anthology...just give us a"YES"or "OKAY-DO IT" right on this thread. CK people are checking this out.
Thank You.

Gerald,
for those who didn't turn in pages, how would you like them to get a couple pages to you? Is a 300dpi jpeg sent via email (or ftp'd somewhere) okay?
Cheers! -Derek

Derek,
I'm in the process of getting an upgrade on my system. I may be off line in a week or two. Files sent to me may not be as accessible. I will pass on the question to CK, see who can handle it. As long as you have the page scanned and ready to send off...that's all we can do for now. I'll let everyone know.
Two or three pages is fine sent out by email, but twenty four pages- would be easier on disk and dropped of at CK?
Thanks D.M.

Hi Gerald,
Sorry for all the questions:
1. So, is the plan to try to include everybody's comic in the one book? Won't that make the book (at the absolute least) 400 pages thick? I remember hearing that some other place (maybe Edmonton?) decided just to make a bunch of separate ashcans and collect them together as a 'box set' because putting all of their comics in to one big book was too difficult.
2. Would we still get to draw front covers (and/or 'bio pages')?
3. Out of curiousity: what format would the book take? (i.e., what size would the pages be? 8.5x11, or smaller?)

CogNoman: Questions GGG: Answers
Sorry for all the questions:
GGG: That's why we have the board.
1. So, is the plan to try to include everybody's comic in the one book? Won't that make the book (at the absolute least) 400 pages thick?
GGG: Not everyone handed in their pages. Some finished 24 but chose not to submit for the book. This is an open invitation to be included in the book. You can have one page or twenty four?
I know some people are printing their own books, consider having a teaser in this Anthology?
I will post/keep a list on contributors and page count.
2. Would we still get to draw front covers (and/or 'bio pages')?
GGG: The COVER- could be the JAM that we have already done? Bio pages we will work in as intros(?).
3. Out of curiousity: what format would the book take? (i.e., what size would the pages be? 8.5x11, or smaller?)
GGG: Most likely 8.5 X 11 and coil bound.
Thanks CG.

Yes. It may not be my best work, but it's a great memento and it would be a pleasure to be included amongst so many great stories. And stop being modest Cognoman. You're making me angry. And you wouldn't like me when I'm angry . . . I pinch.

You probably already know this, but just in case: "Yes, I'd like to submit my comic". I did half-size pages, so mine's only 12 pages long, plus a 13th page if I'm allowed to sneak in a cover/intro page.
And, just so Nick doesn't pinch me, I might as well say that my comic is by far the single greatest comic this world has ever seen.
...Not!
Ow! Ow! I'm sorry, Nick! It just slipped out! Mercy!

As of Wednesday May 4th, we've not had a response from everyone re:24HC Anthology. It has been pushed back. We wanted to include as many participants as possible...a new deadline will be set.
Please contact Mary Ann (email-see earlier entry) to be officially included-forms have to be signed.
Thanks.

The anthology is finally done! Everybody can pick up their copy from Comic-kazi as soon as you like.
I believe the price is $24.95 normally, and about $22 or $22.95 for artists. This barely covers the printing and binding, so Comic-kazi isn't profiting from your book at all. Any extra cash will go towards next year's 24HC event.

Yeah, pick up a copy of the book, all you bookless heathens, heh heh.
The price is steep, but there's a psychedelic slinky attached to the binding that makes it totally worth it, heh heh.
And to Comic-Kazi: Thank-you very much again for the huge amounts of effort you put in to making this book and supporting the local comic scene.
