This is one of 2 pages I did for Alias' Elsinore #4. The writer wanted to buy the original, but I actually painted it on the back of an old painting, so he got two paintings for the price of one. The lesson being... don't paint on the back of stuff.

WOW Fiona!
Is this acrylic on masonite? What are the dimensions? Did the publisher pay for shipping?
Can't wait to see this on the store shelves!
Thanks for the preview.

The buyer will have to build a funky double-sided frame and suspend it from the ceiling in the middle of the room. I hope you charged him triple for such a high-concept piece. ;D
Good work. The scratchy accents either want to be either more prominent or not there at all.

... makes me wonder why I dont paint...
very well made, you have a penance for capturing the angst and agony in line. Im glad you scanned it before you relinquished it to the buyer. Did you scan the other side too?

Thanks for the crits & comments! I was trying to go for a certain mood, and sometimes I think I made the background too light. I didn't know how else to make the black figure stand out, though. I need to reference more Batman art. WOW Fiona! Is this acrylic on masonite? What are the dimensions? Did the publisher pay for shipping? It's oils and pen & ink on masonite, roughly 12"x17". I painted it in black and white and added the colour in photoshop (faster that way). And the guy wanted it for his personal collection, so I'm fedexing it at his cost. Yes... he has stripy pants. Probably the most enjoyable thing to paint, ever. That's right. ledsoul: I also wonder why people don't paint. :) I did scan the other side- it was just part of an environment study series for school. Dull? Yes.

Fiona,
With cropping-the top right hand quadrant works for me. The wall does nothing-with lttle detail.I know it's a study, still good work.

Fiona, you've captured it beautifully. Sure the backgrounds could have been darker or the shadows could have been enhanced/exaggerated with the light source coming from a different direction (such as high above to add more shadows to his face and still giving him the captured innocent look with the light falling on the top of his head), but I think with the pose, his facial expression, the fact that he is so d**n thin, and just the general hopelessness of the situation, you've nailed it as a pin-up or cover. Great work! I think Clive Barker would be proud!

Looks really good, Fiona.
I don't have much in the way of criticism... I just don't post about pictures I don't like.
Have you applied at BioWare? They're looking for artists like crazy right now.
Ciao, K.

Awsome work, I love the mood of the drawing and the expression on the face is very raw and gripping.
