Round One, an anthology of 5 stories by all 5 Vicious Ambitious members. The full-sized, perfect bound, 56 b/w page book will be premiering at the 2005 ACCA Comic and Toy Convention on May 28th. It retails for $7.50 Canadian and when you buy it at the ACCA convention, recieve a free exclusive mini-sketchbook and personalized convention sketch by your Vicious Ambitious Member of choice. Sketchbooks are in very limited quantities, so the earlier, the better. Can't wait till May 28th to read our book? No problem, we'll be distributing a special 10 page preview book on May 7th AKA FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. We'll be canvassing Calgary's comic book retailers and a list of stores where you can get the Free Comic Book Day preview will be posted later in the week. So remember, on May 7th, make sure to grab the book that looks like this - We'll be updating our website with all of the information above later this week, so consider this the first salvo of promotion right here on the Maple Ink Forums! Thats all for now! -Vince-

Depends on what you wanna talk about. I'd prefer we don't give away too much of the stories, and just let everyone know that its a kick-ass book, bound with some enchanted binding glue, and blessed by the Norse Gods themselves.
But if you're aching to talk about it, you can always email me. (wink, wink)

I may sound like an ignorant buffoon, but what the heck is Yggdrasil? Sorry. Yggdrasil is the world tree. That's why our yggdrasil paper cost an extra half cent a sheet, but you just can't beat that norse god smell. Mmmm, Odinny-fresh.

Ah yes, the cobwebs of time are now brushed away. Mike, I recognized your thick Penticton accent even on these electronic forum discussions. I'm sure we can work something out. It's good to see support from across provincial borders even when our book hasn't been released yet.
Catch me on Msn or email me.
As for the rest of you, I sure hope you got your Free Comic Book Day samplers. We did some checking and most places seem to have got rid of them all, whether it was by person or by dumpster.

It might depend on your browser. If you're using Mozilla, the site might be pop-up blocked, so see if you can change the settings. If its not that, then I dunno. Keep trying.
Believe in the ball, throw yourself.

Yeah, it should work. very few times have I been to a site that won't work like that. Sometimes it's a browser fault or pop-up blocked ... usually if all else fails, I have to check in Internet Explorer as my last option.
{this is in context to browsing with a Mac}

Coming from the south, find Crowchild Tr and head north until you find the Stadium ... right across from the Nissan dealership
Coming from the north, find Crowchild Tr and head south until you find the Stadium ... right across from the Nissan dealership
It's just north of 16Ave N ... approx. 20ave N and Crowchild Tr I believe.
A basic direction, on Deerfoot, turn west on 16ave N (HW 1) ... go to Crowchild Tr ... in reality, turn on the Banff Tr, just before Crowchild and follow the road and you'll drive right up to the Nissan dealership and the Stadium will be in front of you.

I'll be popping by probably a bit after 1pm ... Staples doesn't win at printing comics ... so after 3 days of back and forth and misprints galore, I will be picking up the issue last minute at 12pm Sat ... do or die.

Got to read it all last night. It's a pretty interesting book and I like how every story is nothing like the next. You guys all have your own voice and expression of that. Some would expect a bunch of guys that draw the same, but this has quite a variety.
I'd personally like to talk to each artist/creator about their story. I'm not up for giving a critique over the interweb, but if you're ever interested in some 'no holds barred crits' just let me know. They are more helping suggestions than anything.
overall, I can't wait for Round 2

Thanks Chris. Anything you have to say about the book is very much appreciated. Feel free to comment on here if you'd like...or actually to the Round One Feedback thread. Go all out man...if you didn't like a certain story. Or who was your favourite...then by all means say it. I've grown to except the fact if someone doesn't like my art or the story, then I use that to do more in the next work I do. So yeah feel free to hit that Round One Feedback thread and let it rip! I also read your Doll Steak from Nick's. I've seen both versions and the one with the inks is the best. (obviously). But I love your pacing and I know it was rushed a little because of the 24 hr Comic day, your art still stays very consistent. But yeah your storytelling is very easy to read and it has depth. I enjoyed it can't wait for more.

Hey Chris,
I think I speak for everyone from Vicious Ambitious when I say rip away. If anything, we wanted feedback more than we wanted revenue from the book. Although the money helps us put out another book. Start ripping away in the Round One feedback thread.
Thanks,
-Vince-
